Safe Haven Book Review

A little over a year ago the hit romantic movie Safe Haven came out and made millions fall in love with thrilling love story. What many people may not know is that before it was the movie it was a book. If you’ve seen the movie you will know that this is not a typical Nicholas Sparks love story. The story in fact, has an added element of suspense to it. The story takes place in the spring when a very reserved young woman, Katie, holds a secret from her past and refuses the company of others to keep that secret, a secret. However, when Katie meets a widower, Alex, with two kids, she soon realizes that she isn’t the only one who holds a painful past. However, along the way the dark secrets of her past come back to haunt her and her newfound life on the sunny shores of Southport, North Carolina. When you first hear of a Nicholas Sparks book you might consider a story about two people who fall in love and then have a fight but of course get back together in the end, right? Thats the type of thing that separates a typical Spark’s romance novel from Safe Haven, because not only is there the love story between Katie and Alex, but also an added factor of unexpectancy and shock. If you’ve first seen the movie Safe Haven, then I would strongly recommend reading the book as well. Originally, I saw the movie first and really enjoyed it so I decided to read the actual book and I can safely say that the book was in fact better than the movie. The book revealed a lot more answers to questions that I had when I watched the movie. Although I did see the movie before I read the book there were still unexpected surprises that were not in the movie, so not all of the book was given away. In other words, if you loved the movie, then you’ll love the book even more!
