Fundraising Fun

By Shannon Fairweather

It’s school time again, and that means more hours at Staples and less time at the beach. It’s time to study, do homework, and get involved in class fundraisers!

Every year your class officers try to come up with something cool, different, and motivating to do for class fundraisers. Now, I’m not saying that going to Zinga and Fuddruckers isn’t awesome and delicious, because it is. But this year, the Class of 2016 class officers are planning to take the things you love and turn them into new fundraising opportunities!

Our first initiative focuses on merchandise, we’re in the process of creating some cool Warrior pride wear and accessories. If you were stuck on a desert island and could only bring three items, no doubt one of those things would be the device you bring everywhere, your precious phone. As class officers we like to respond to your needs. So we’re doing a Wakefield High School Phone Case Fundraiser! These very cool phone cases will go on sale very soon and cost only $15.  You will have the option to choose from three fabulous designs for a variety of phone styles, such as the iPhone 4, iPhone 5 and the Samsung Galaxy series. The 2016 class officers will be passing out the WHS phone case order forms during school. All you have to do is circle the one (or two) you want, fill out your personal information, pay by cash or check made payable to WHS Class of 2016, place it in an envelope and give it to one of the 2016 class officers.  We will also have a table set up before school and during lunch so that you can order directly with us at those times.

Now on to our second fundraising initiative, we all love our Bruins, Red Sox, Celtics and Patriots. So why not have some raffles and cool games to give away tickets to see them play and attend other cool events around Boston? We will be having raffles and contests on an ongoing basis so that you have the opportunity win tickets to the best games and concerts around. We have one going on right now to win tickets to one of the first Bruins games of the season! The game is simple, the prize is fantastic. We have a jar full of candy, nut-free of course, and you need to guess how much candy is in the jar! The closest person to the correct number gets Bruins tickets for their October 10th home game at the TD Garden, and the person with second closest guess wins the candy! We will be selling guesses at lunch and other school events for $2 each, or $5 for three guesses. The contest ends on Friday, October 4, 2013 so be sure to get your guesses in before then. There will be more cool games and raffles coming up so don’t be discouraged if you don’t win!

This year our main goal is to raise as much money as possible so we can have an amazing Prom/ Junior Prom and other class events, but also to have fun, bond, and become closer as a class. Your class officers promise to work as hard as we can, to think of new and creative fundraising ideas, and make sure we have a great year. But there’s only so much we can do without your help and involvement. Class participation is crucial to our success, so please be sure to show up to fundraisers, participate in games and raffles, and share your ideas with us. If you have ideas you think would be a cool fundraiser or game share them with us on Twitter, email, or text us anytime. Be sure to follow us on Twitter @WakeClass2016 to get your class updates. We’re excited to create new opportunities to raise funds and have fun this year and we look forward to having everyone get involved so we can have the best year possible!
