A new year, a new principal. This year, Wakefield High School will start off their school year with a new principal, Mr. Metropolis. Mr Metropolis, who took the helm of the school on July 1st, has had much experience in not only teaching but being a leader.

After graduating high school in 1991, he attended the University of New Hampshire where he earned a bachelor’s degree in History. Following that he worked several part time and full time jobs while earning a masters degree in teaching Social Studies. He has more recently added certificate of advanced graduate studies from Cambridge College in school leadership to his achievements.

Mr. Metropolis may be the new principal but he is not new to this school. In 1999 he beganhis teaching career at Wakefield High School as a History teacher and the Dept. Coordinator for the social studies Dept. in 2003. After 11 years at Wakefield High School, Mr. Metropolis became Assistant Principal at Sandwich High School on Cape Cod before finally returning to Wakefield.

“It is a warm and welcoming community, and that is what drew me back.” He says.
“I know many members of the faculty and feel very fortunate to be considered as the instructional leader of a school seeking to promote excellence in teaching and learning in a student centered format.”

Wakefield High is very happy to welcome him back and wish him good luck!
