We’re lucky that we’re friends with Sean Meagher. He’s got a lot of promise, and is starting to gain a following. Sean Meagher goes by his Youtube name Spongey. We were able to score an interview with him, and got the details of his meteoric rise. He was inspired to start after seeing the success of Youtubers like Pewdiepie and Markiplier. The name Spongey comes from his childhood love of the Nickelodeon television series Spongebob Squarepants. Spongey really wants to live up to the success of his heroes. He’d like to make this a living for himself, and keep it going for as long as he can. In order to do this he has to reach a large audience. To do that he has gain viewers, by playing games that the people want to see. He’ll play the newest game from big developers like Rockstar, EA, Ubisoft, or lesser known indie titles. Also to gain fans, he’ll collaborate with fellow freshman Youtubers in the school. This will get them both cross promotion from boths fanbases. Another aspect of gaining a fanbase is having a constant upload schedule. Sean hopes to be able to put out quality videos, every one to two weeks. Whether he is sick or busy, he’ll always find time to make videos for his loyal fanbase. As far as creating videos, he’ll usually get together with some friends, and play multiplayer on a video game. Spongey never tires to be too serious in his videos, he’d rather make people laugh and just have a good time. With over six hundred subscribers in a little over a year, it looks like Sean’s channel won’t be slowing down anytime soon.
